There are lots of opinions on AI, from accessibility godsend to environmental disaster. Barely an hour goes by without us receiving another email touting a new AI tool or warning of a pitfall.
One thing is totally clear though – in this AI age, honesty and transparency are more important than ever.
Our commitment to you
We like to think we’re not just any accountancy firm; by and large, if you’re a client of ours, you didn’t just pick us at random! You’re with Bloodwood Accounting because you want to work with us, and that’s exactly what you get.
We won’t use AI to read or reply to your emails, or to find answers to your queries. We won’t use AI for working on your accounts, your tax returns, or anything else for you. When you’re talking to us, whether by email, Signal, phone call or anything else, it’s just us you’re talking to – no more, no less.
Most of the software we use has started to incorporate some selection of AI tools. To date, none of them has done anything extra that we need, so we don’t intentionally use them; it’s possible that some of them will start to be woven into essential functions that we actually do use, though we hope not.
Whether or not this happens we remain determined that AI will never have a place between us and our clients, and if any of our software starts trying to force its way into that relationship, we will do our best to find an alternative promptly.
What we ask of you
Decisions around AI are complicated and personal; the only thing we ask of you, if you are an AI user, is that you make it clear to us if you’re asking us to research or implement something that’s been suggested to you by AI. This isn’t because of any judgment on our part, it’s just so that we can give you the best help – different approaches are needed when checking something for human-style mistakes versus keeping an eye out for possible AI hallucinations.
